Creation of Full Tilt Poker
Full Tilt Poker is an online poker room that was created in June 2004 with a number of high profile poker playing professionals accepting to be involved in its creation and promotion.
Players such as Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Andy Bloch, Mike Matusow, Jennifer Harman and Chris Ferguson all agreed to work with the site to increase brand awareness, helping the site to fixate itself firmly with the title of being the worlds second largest online poker room on the internet.
Since its creation the site has become one of the best known online poker rooms through its sponsorship and branding of not only poker tournaments but also the professional players who have been included in the process of building the site to the level that the site is held in the current day.
The company is continuously looking to develop its reputation and the inclusion of the brand creating their own online poker tournament series will offer a huge boost to their fight to close the gap on the number one online poker room Pokerstars.
In September 2006, the site was boosted by the passing of a new legal bill named the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) which made it increasingly harder for poker players based in the United States of America to transfer funds into their online gambling accounts.
The bill saw a large number of online poker rooms turn their back on the American online gambling market and so this meant that Full Tilt Poker were able to capture a large percentage of the players who left such sites as PartyPoker as they looked for a new home to play their poker.
